DESCRIPTION

This is a 3d model of a Red Apple. Everything was done in Maya 2019.2, without any plugin. The texturing was done procedurally in Maya through the Hypershade and the model was rendered in Arnold 5.3.1.1. The Red Apple 3d model is a high-end, photorealistic model.

Features:

  • There is no post-production used on any of the renders you see. The last image of the preview images shows the model with three levels of subdivisions.
  • The lighting setup is included in the file.
  • Objects are grouped and named according to their purpose, allowing the model to be rigged and animated without any problem.
  • No extra plugins are needed to open or modify the scene.
  • The textures were done entirely in the Maya Hypershade without the use of any external softwares; they are completely procedural and can be drastically modified to one's heart's content.

Technical Specifications:

  • The Red Apple 3d model consists of 1299 faces and 1259 vertices when is not smoothed; with three subdivision levels the 3d model has 20432 faces and 20436 vertices. The entire scene consists of 1313 faces and 1289 vertices.

Because of his procedurality and flexibility can be used to create a wide variety of apples and, if slightly modified, can be used for different purposes. Since its low poly nature (without subdivisions applied) can be used for games; and, once the subdivisions are applied, the model can be also used for a high-res film close-ups.

A little bit of history. An apple is a sweet, edible fruit produced by an apple tree (Malus domestica). Apple trees are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species in the genus Malus. The tree originated in Central Asia. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe and were brought to North America by European colonists. Apples have religious and mythological significance in many cultures, including Norse, Greek and European Christian tradition.
