Central Factory at Estate Lower Love 3D model

The central sugar factory at Estate Lower Love importance was that it allowed for small cultivators to be involved in the sugar industry. The chimney was built in 1823. It is 112 ft. high, about 26 feet thick at the base and tapers up to the top to about 14 feet wide. The builder of the chimney was a Mr. William Peebles. He was probably enslaved, however it is not known for sure as his early information is not known. He appears in the 1841 Census as being 23 years of age, free and living in Christiansted. He was a master Mason, and later classified as an Architect. Mr. Peebles rebuilt the upper floor of government house between 1862-1866. More information on William Peebles can be found here:
