Tall stone walls reach upward, their notched tops as broken teeth silhouetted against a starry sky. The edifice which once knew life is now quiet, whispering secrets of a darker time. Windows gape like hollow eyes, empty and watching. A faint light flickers atop a tall corner tower, deemed unreachable by frightened locals. Carved from cold timeworn stone smoothed by centuries of footsteps, stone stairs lead up. Each step bears the shallow indentations of heavy boots and hurried escapes. The open main gate groans with the tearing wind, as though exhaling centuries of despair. Beyond its arch halls stretch into darkness, where forgotten creatures of lore watch from the shadows. I've only implemented one of the fortresses in this ambitious collection so far, the center one in the picture. It features detailed rich stone and wood textures. Blocks of rugged cracked stone mottled with shades of grey and slate are assembled for the floors, walls, and arches. Rich wooden plank flooring is featured on the upper levels and the stairs. There is plenty to explore with four main levels and a high fifth level at the top of a tower reachable by a winding staircase. Two tileable textures are included, a 1024x2048 wood texture and a 2048x2048 stone texture. Since they are tileable, a texture can be repeated in the same triangle render, providing great detail in an efficient manor. Also the textures provided in this set are uniform. Detail elements of models are actually physical parts of the models, not from the adding of lines and shadowing to the texture files commonly done in the industry as a cheat. Three levels of detail are provided at 581652, 1785186, and a hefty 2087217 vertices. There are significant differences in what is rendered between the three. I use the highest detail version, despite the high memory resources required for the buffers in my OpenGL fantasy game. A haunting structure for an adventurer to come across in a dark woods, and a fine example of the extraordinary range of large scale work offered by Enterables.
