Geneva City of Switzerland September 2020 data

Geneva City of Switzerland September 2020 data Low-poly 3D model

Description

This scene is optimized, arranged for faster rendering, visualization and editing. You can use the extra data for motion graphics and info graphic animations. File formats include: C4D

• C4D Native, recommended : nurbs, curves You can easily change the road/rail/water details. Adding traffic is easy. May take little longer to load because of all procedural data. • C4D Poly : All objects are polygon. No curve data and extra details. Easy to load and navigate. • C4D 2d : All curves data, useful for merging with C4D poly. • All 3 files are arranged in to sections, layered and named materials applied.

• Alembic : Nurbs version contains polygon and curve data. Poly has polygon and 2d has only curves. • FBX: Only polygon, no extra data • OBJ : Polygon, no extra • DAE : Polygon • STL : Polygon, not for 3d printing. • DXF : 2d file contains all curves, 3d file contains only polygon • SVG : Vector file (Illustrator only) is useful for finding details. It is not used in the 3d formats. All the exchange formats are arranged hierarchically with proper groups, naming and materials. You can get the extra details by merging any of the 2d format on top.

There are 3 building file files given,

• Building category – Simple buildings, flat roof, Up to 50 sections including home, apartments, office, clinic, hospital, shop etc. Can be used for info graphics, motion graphics or visualization.

• Building semi roofed – (native) Semi detailed roof structure, completely derived within the scene. So exactly matches the scene. Buildings roof contains variation based on real world data. No sections, categories. Useful for architecture and other purpose.

• Building Hipped roof – More detailed roof structures, obtained from different source. Building height may vary from other two sections. It is placed exactly on right place however due to different source and data the contour buildings may misaligned. Useful for aerial shot, architecture etc.

Kindly download the accompanying building folder, extract the files and import (merge) the right file type on top of the original scene. The original scene may contain buildings, delete the unwanted ones.

Default will be the Building semi roofed. You can import the other types of buildings later. Do not change the position/scale of any file, it will mess up with merging the buildings. Once finished the scene you can do whatever you want.

If you are using any polygon format (other than c4d file) you may want to use original curve data for roads, rail, river etc. Just merge any of the supported 2d format (alembic, dxf or c4d) on top of the polygon file. You can add traffic details, power lines, aerial ways, trees using all those extra details.

Original c4d file contains all the details, including extra details hidden. You will get completely arranged, grouped file structure with layers. Only one type of building is placed inside the scene. You can change the width of roads, rails, river etc with in the scene.

Adding trees are super easy. Chose forest, wood, tree rows, land cover trees layers/polygons as scatter source. If you are using c4d you can use cloner. In the hidden details you can find wood types, tree types etc which can be useful for adding specific trees.

Water section may contain overlapping polygons, you can hide/delete unwanted sections. In order to keep all data intact I used different source for water details, that is why the scene contains overlapping water bodies.

Sports- Only limited details are used for sports, mainly because most of them are under buildings or other sections. You can easily select, generate, texture more sports category simply expanding the hidden section.

All the data are in accordance with web mercator projection. So if you use any map source which can deliver web mercator projection it is easy to apply aerial satellite image. Mapbox is tested with this scene. Google and Bing map may not fit exactly because they use other type of projection.

The vector (SVG/Illustrator) file is for evaluation purpose only. You can open it in Adobe Illustrator and can extract available details including road/street names. The 3d file is not using this data. So if you plan to use as texture it wont fit properly.
