This model is an artist’s rendition of Marie Catherine Laveau, the once Voodoo Queen of New Orleans during the 1800s. She used her gifts to help others, and was known as a community activist who fed the hungry and nursed the sick during a yellow-fever epidemic. She also was gifted and honored as an advice-giving and amulet-making person.
