This is the Lotus Breeze Pavilion (Hefeng Simian Ting) in the Humble Administrator's Garden. The couplet on the pavilion reads:Lotuses on four sides, willows on three; half a pond of autumn water, and a room of distant hills. It vividly captures the scenery around the pavilion, especially in summer.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is located at No. 178, Northeast Street, Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Covering an area of 78 mu (about 52,000 square meters), it is one of the Four Great Classical Gardens of China, alongside the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Mountain Resort in Chengde, and the Lingering Garden in Suzhou.
The garden was originally built in the 4th year of the Zhengde reign in the Ming Dynasty (1509 AD) by Wang Xianchen, a censor during the Jiajing period and a successful candidate in the imperial examination during the Hongzhi reign. The famous painter Wen Zhengming, a leading figure of the Wu School, was invited to participate in the design. The construction took 16 years to complete.
