DESCRIPTION

Saurolophus was a large, herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 million years ago. It belonged to the hadrosaur family, or duck-billed dinosaurs, and could reach lengths of up to 10 meters (33 feet). Saurolophus is known for its unique, backward-pointing crest on the top of its head, which may have been used for communication or display. Its fossils have been found in North America and Asia, specifically in Canada and Mongolia, making it one of the few dinosaurs known from multiple continents. Saurolophus likely traveled in herds, feeding on a variety of vegetation in both forested and open areas.
