Oranosaurus is a genus of herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 125 million years ago. It belonged to a group of dinosaurs known as ornithopods and was characterized by its distinctive sail-like structure along its back, formed by elongated neural spines. Oranosaurus had a long neck and tail, sturdy hind limbs, and shorter forelimbs. It likely fed on low-lying vegetation, using its beak to crop plants. Fossil discoveries of Oranosaurus have primarily been made in North Africa, particularly in Niger and Morocco. Studying Oranosaurus provides valuable insights into the diversity and adaptations of dinosaurs during the Early Cretaceous period, as well as their paleobiogeography.
