DESCRIPTION

Overview:

This is a Rigged Low-poly, game ready Medium Lift Utility Helicopter with two colours (Grey, Green) and three rotor animations (StartUp, Full Speed, Shutdown).

Modelled in 3DS Max 2016. The normal map was baked from a high poly model for added detail.

Files named using the Unreal Engine 4 Naming Convention.

File uploaded as a packed .7z file.

Geometry:

Package includes the Base Mesh and five LOD’s in .fbx file formats. Also included are a .uasset files including Skeletal Mesh, Physics Assets and Anims (place in your Unreal Engine 4 projects content folder).

3DS Max Dimensions – L17.7m x W12.2m x H5.2m approximate to real world scale Pivot is centred to the base of the model and is set at X:0 Y:0 Z:0

Textures:

Uses three sets of PBR Textures at 4096x4096 for the Fuselage, 4096x4096 for Interior and external objects, and 2048x2048 for Panel Instruments and Rotors in PNG format with both Metalness and Specular workflow.

Also contains two packed Metalness, Roughness, Ambient Occlusion maps.

Included Maps:

  • Metalness

    • Albedo (A)
    • Ambient Occlusion (AO)
    • Metalness (M)
    • Normal (N)
    • Roughness (R)
    • Packed M_R_AO
    • Packed R_M_AO
  • Specular

    • Ambient Occlusion (AO)

    • Gloss (G)
    • Normal (N)
    • Specular (S)

Final Notes:

Also included are the 3DS Max scene saved as 2013 version with animations

.uasset Skeletal Mesh file does not have materials applied to prevent conflict with your UE4 project pipeline.

Glass material was created within the render software and therefore is not included. I advise you to create your own shader within your software.

Preview Images are rendered in real time in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

Preview images display products actual Main Rotors.

Model is based upon (but not accurate to) the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter.

Is it possible to re-export in a normal FBX format? This ASCII format is unreadable from three different modelling programs I have tried to import it to. The only time I was ever able to import it (In to Roblox of all places) it was still not usable because the interior, exterior, and control panel were all merged in to one mesh.

FBX
This FBX file has successfully passed the CGT Standard technical and visual checks. The verification results are detailed in the section below.
File & scene
Binary FBX
Binary FBX file is more compact and faster to load and process.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
