Hey all!
I just love the expressive nature of anime! For this free feature, we're doing some suggestion of motion! I've seen it a handful of times in various situations, but honestly, this one blew my mind when I finally noticed it. A lot of times we want motion, but we can't get it, because in relation to the camera, it's actually quite static - we therefore need environmental queues or visual language to help us understand what is going on.
Enter STATIC SPEED!
A VERY simple tool to help you say something quite significant!
Included:
- Animated Suzanne Demo file that also contains the nodegroup(Lumberjack not included, but available - link below)
Instructions:
-
Append the nodegroup for the compositor
-
Make sure you understand how masking works
-
You need the Normal Pass and Cryptomatte or ID mask
-
No vector pass is used here
-
Add - connect as per labels and boom - works!
Settings:
-
Line Scale - Scales the texture that forms the lines
-
Rotation - Allows you to change the angle of the lines as a whole
-
Line Length - Stretches the line texture to create longer singular lines
-
Influence - Follows a dissolve effect instead of a fade, so you can thin out the lines as they vanish, instead of just fading out.
I'm sure you're gonna love this one!!
I hope you guys get massive use out of this and don't forget to check out the Lumberjack if you're interested, hehe.
