Description

Challenge from the king is a design inspired from chess coins and tanjore doll. The design consists of section like a chess coin, an arrangement for interchangeable tiles, thin plates (designed as king’s symbol in this case) and sharp edges at the top and an hemispherical bottom. The bottom and sphere embedded with extrusions will prove a test for the vacuum grippers; while the thin plates (king’s symbol) and gear like shapes provides the test for parallel grippers here other unique and slipping shapes can also be used. The Rest like a pointed tip at the top and ellipsoid like structures can be used for testing three finger grippers. The main feature I added is an arrangement that could hold tiles of different materials or shape like a curved wooden piece or a granite piece as in rendered pictures ,the tile could be of any shape and material as per the likings to make gripping task difficult and also provides an advantage of easy production by simple methods that could simply add the complexity. Due to simple design the model has , I believe it could be easily produced by conventional methods like injection moulding for a plastic and can be 3d printed or machined for others .The fact that the design is hollow inside helps material savings and provides option for filling custom materials If needed. The dimensions of this model can be easily changed, as I have used parametric software (CREO PARAMETRIC 2.0).
