The Lochmor was built by Ailsa Shipbuilders of Troon for Caledonian MacBrayne’s passenger-only service from Mallaig to the Small Isles (Rum, Eigg, Canna and Muck). She was launched on 11th June 1979. Cargo could be carried on the open quarterdeck, including two cars. She was replaced by the larger car ferry Lochnevis in 2001, and after modification for tourist cruising in England, she moved to Iceland in 2015, being renamed Sailor in 2017; she appears to have been laid up there since 2023.

The model was designed at 1/72nd scale giving a length of 43cm and beam 11cm. The prototype was designed to use the radio, twin motors, propellers and steering gear from the Tugboat 686 model, which is available from AliExpress and many vendors on eBay etc. If you wish to use conventional propellers and rudders, you can print the two alternative hull parts included and sort out the motor and steering servo fittings yourself.
