DESCRIPTION
  • EN: In Japanese mythology, the kamaitachi is always seen with a sickle as a weapon, although in other versions they say that it is his claws that have the shape of the sickle, with which he harmed people for no apparent reason. This being, whose appearance is similar to a weasel, is said to travel on a whirlwind causing deep but painless wounds. That is why wounds that appeared in an unknown way, or when people did not want to talk about them, were attributed to this being. In Gifu Prefecture, the Kamaitachi is said to go in a team of three, with the first rushing to stun the victim, the second cutting with his claws, and the third applying the medicine that prevents the victim from bleeding.
