A TOKEN PENDANT WITH THE IMAGE OF THE HOLY MARTYR

August 12th is the day to remember the holy martyr, John the Warrior. Saint John served in the imperial army with Julian the Apostate (361-363) and, along with other soldiers, he was sent to persecute Christians. Although he outwardly seemed to be a persecutor, he provided great assistance to Christians. Saint John warned them of danger, helped free captive Christians, and facilitated their escape. He showed mercy not only to those being persecuted, but also to those in need of help. He visited the sick and comforted the grieving.When Julian the Apostate discovered Saint John's aid to Christians, he imprisoned him. The emperor died in war with the Persians in 363 and Saint John was released. He dedicated the rest of his life to helping others and died a natural death at an advanced age. The precise year and location of his death are unknown, but through a vision, he revealed the location of his burial to a devout woman.His relics were discovered and placed in the Church of Saint John the Apostle in Constantinople. According to tradition, his holy relics have been endowed with the power to heal. In the Russian Orthodox Church, Saint John the Warrior is venerated as a great intercessor in times of distress and in various situations in life.
