X-Men was a Canadian-American television animated series premiered on October 31, 1992 (1993–1994 season) by the Fox signal as part of the Fox Kids program block, aimed at children.

Produced by Saban Entertainment, the studio behind Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, X-Men was Marvel Comics' second attempt at an X-Men animated series, following a half-hour pilot titled Pryde of the X-Men. which was broadcast several times between 1991 and 1992; however, this pilot did not receive a good audience.

The popularity and success of the X-Men, along with Batman: The Animated Series (which premiered in the 1993-94 season), fueled the release of several comic book-based animated series in the 1990s.

In addition, due to the crossover with Spider-Man: the animated series in its second season, it was established that both series share the same universe.
