Willen is the leader of the Tree People. His people had been involved in a long dispute with the Cave Dwellers about which of them would have custody of Starchild, so he traveled to the Royal Palace to resolve it. He befriended Man-At-Arms when Starchild ran off and went into hiding, and used his knowledge of plants to help track her down and save her from a dangerous situation. In the end, he and Palos agreed that their people would share custody of Starchild - an outcome with which everyone was pleased.
