Formerly known as Uxas, Darkseid is a New God and the tyrannical Lord of Apokolips, considered one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. His ultimate goal is to enslave the multiverse by eliminating all hope and free will in sentient beings. He is also the father of Kalibak, Orion and Grayven, and is one of Superman's greatest adversaries and the archenemy of the Justice League.

As with the gods of other mythologies, Darkseid is incredibly powerful, but he cannot escape his ultimate fate. It has been predicted that Darkseid will face his final defeat at the hands of his son, Orion, in a cataclysmic battle in the fiery Armaghetto of Apokolips.
