SpongeBob SquarePants is a fictional American character and the protagonist of the animated series of the same name, created by Stephen Hillenburg, a marine science educator and animator. SpongeBob is a yellow sea sponge with a square shape who lives in a pineapple under the sea in the fictional city of Bikini Bottom. He is characterized by his unwavering optimism, childlike attitude, and constant energy. He works as a cook at the Krusty Krab restaurant, where he makes the famous Krabby Patties, and attends Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, although he never manages to get his boat-driving license.
