The Universal Classic Monsters universe is a film franchise that began with The Phantom of the Opera and ended with The Creature Walks Among Us. Its recurring stars were Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and/or Lon Chaney Jr. in various roles.

It is considered the first cinematic universe in history.
