Tognath Mask Star Wars

Tognath Mask Star Wars 3D print model

Description

Tognath were a sentient species that were native to the planet Yar Togna. The Tognath had a striking look thanks to their insectoid and mammalian characteristics; another factor was their having both an endo- and exoskeleton. They also possessed a very primitive nervous system, which provided them with immunity to most pain (a helpful trait in combat). The mercenaries Edrio “Two Tubes” and Benthic were members of this species.

This model is a wearable mask. The mask is quite big and is meant to be post-processed.

Files contain pieces of the mask ready to be 3D printed and complete helmet files, that are not cut into smaller pieces.

SCALE

At 100% scale the whole mask dimensions are:

Width approx. 331 mm

Length approx. 275 mm

Height approx. 367 mm

You can scale the model according to your head measurements. It is good to make it bigger and then add cushioning to the inside for a snug and comfortable fit.

PRINTER SETTINGS

As the mask is quite big, it is meant to be post-processed. We recommend a layer height of 0.1 to 0.3 mm on FDM printers. All parts are aligned to the printing platform for easy manipulation. Most of the parts need minimal or no use of printing supports to save printing time and filament. For reliable printing, we also recommend setting a brim to the helmets shell parts, because of their height and low thickness. It will ensure, that the parts will not come off the printing platform during the printing process. Printing settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.

Do you like the model and don't have a 3D printer? There are lots of people who offer 3D printing services these days. Try searching for someone who offers them in your area.

It looks cool when you complete it and put it together. The scale seems well done, spot on. I think the artist took some liberty designing some parts a bit with his own touch. It does not seem to be all there. to put it together requires some other resources and ingenuity. But whoever put the time into making it so that is more than I did.

This kit is pretty cool and the author(s) did a great job re-creating the look and feel of the tognath mask. I've finally printed all of the items and have these comments: -I needed to print the helmet in 3 three pieces and that was ok, except that there are only two holes for pins to line up the front and back, but none to connect the top. -The tubes do not articulate, so I'll have to make my own model for them. It will be easy to measure the printed ones to make the new model. -Those creepy eyes are not included! I will be making mine out of small spherical mirrors. -This kit is made to be glued together. I would prefer to be able to put it together with designed-in fasteners instead, or at least with some threaded holes for screws. I will be printing a new version with my own vertical slicing of the helmet to include holes for aligning pins and fasteners for the other items. I am considering printing one in military green.
