Tiger Statue - Holocene Extinction memorial

Tiger Statue - Holocene Extinction memorial 3D print model

Description

Holocene extinction memorial designed for Edinburgh Zoo to bring attention to the issue of deforestation and mass extinction of animals caused by humans. It unfortunately never got made in full scale due to some unforeseen circumstances but it still does for a nice tabletop statue when scaled down with an important message behind it serving not only as a piece of art but as a conversation piece. The idea behind it was fairly simple. Tiger was meant to be made from blocks of wood that would be sourced from a sustainable source of wood like balsa showing how unnecessary deforestation is. Missing pieces of tiger represent how we are destroying the natural habitat of many species with every field and every mine. On the base, some of the fields would be planted with grass and some would show patterns inspired by fields you can see from planes left after surface mining and unsustainable ways that crops are grown where there were forests. If you would like to know more about the project itself it should be on my Behance page or feel free to send me a message. To be honest I was never much of an eco-warrior but seeing what we are doing to this planet makes me want to change things which is why I used filament that is made from recycled plastic and wood offcuts.
