Mammon is traditionally known as the demon of greed, avarice, and material wealth. The name comes from the Aramaic word “mamona”, meaning “riches” or “money.”In medieval Christian lore, Mammon personifies the temptation of wealth as an idol, symbolizing the spiritual corruption caused by excessive attachment to material possessions.

He is often described as a Prince of Hell, ruling over greed and the desire for gold and power. Unlike demons of wrath or war, Mammon corrupts through seduction, luxury, and ambition rather than violence.He is usually depicted as a figure covered in gold, seated on piles of coins or ornate thrones — a visual metaphor for the bondage of materialism.
