Milo James Thatch is a cartographer and linguist, as well as an amateur plumber. In addition to his academic training as a linguist and translator, Milo received instruction in cartography and archaeology from the legendary Thaddeus Thatch (his paternal grandfather). He worked as a linguist at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
