DESCRIPTION

This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 8 and then converted to all other 3D formats. Native format is .skp 3dsmax scene is 3ds Max 2016 version, rendered with Vray 3.00 The OBERLÄNDER is a basic type of the Middle Rhine ship, which of 15th up to 18th century was used mainly on the distance between Mainz and Cologne. Its shape is adapted to the particular circumstances of the current path and its fairway. The floor plan has the shape of a trapezoid. The greatest width is in the ship's bottom, and in the rear , the width of the 1.5 to 2 times the width of the bow. The floor is completely flat and is pulled up in the stern to a huge hut, which is pointed at a height of 6-7 m and steep drops to the deck. The deck has from bow to stern the same width and is completely flat. It falls against the bow. It gives the impression of heaviness, but this is not true. Top and bottom form an angle of up to 10 degrees. The 6-7 m high mast pole is used exclusively for towing. The viability of the Oberlander likely 100 - 120 t have not been exceeded. The round window is flush with the top strake, so that no transition board is available. The form shall bear halfway up two gangways, which served as the site of the Boating Party. The sites of Oberlander were mainly in Bonn Beuel , to a lesser extent in Mainz on the Vilzbacher shipyard. Often the ships were used one or two times, than demolished to gain the wood for house construction.
