COLET K-15 JAGUAR Atlanta Airport ARFF Fire Engine Truck.
The Colet K15 Jaguar is an aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle built by Colet Special Vehicle Design. The Jaguar is best known for its distinctive appearance, marked by a tapered glass nose. Jaguars were sold to the United States Air Force, Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Ontario International Airport.
This Colet S.V.D Colet K-15 , has been part of the fleet protecting Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport since 1998. The difference between the KR/40 and a traditional fire truck is striking.
When a turn is made in a standard truck, the centrifugal force sends passengers to the outside of the turn, sometimes making it feel like the vehicle is about to turn over. In a KR/40 the suspension system compensates for turns, making the centrifugal barely noticeable.
In addition to its strikingly good looks, the K-15 is quite the airport firefighting machine. The unit carries 4,000 gallons of water, has an engine that delivers approximately 1,600 horsepower, an electronic active hydro-pneumatic suspension system, stainless steel chassis, an extremely low center of gravity, twin automatic transmissions, electronic traction control, anti-lock braking system and the aforementioned advanced stability system.
