DESCRIPTION

The M1 Abrams is a third-generation American main battle tank and named for General Creighton Abrams. Conceived for modern armored ground warfare and now one of the heaviest tanks in service at nearly 68 short tons, it introduced several modern technologies to US armored forces, including a multifuel turbine engine, sophisticated Chobham composite armor, a computer fire control system, separate ammunition storage in a blow-out compartment, and NBC protection for crew safety. Initial models of the M1 were armed with a 105 mm M68 gun, while later variants feature a license-produced Rheinmetall 120 mm L/44.

Product Features (Poser):

  • Poser figure: includes obj, cr2/ png, at 161,971 polygons, with the following moving parts:
  • Turret can rotate.
  • Left and right hatches can open and close.
  • Machine gun on the turret can raise up and down.
  • Machine gun stand allows the gun to rotate.
  • Periscope can rotate.
  • Main gun can can raise up and down.
  • Left and right antenna on the turret can be hidden or shown.
  • Left and right wheel skirts can rotate up and down or can be hidden.
  • All 8 wheels on the left and right rotate independently.-- Pose controls can be found on the body for rotating all wheels, all left wheels, all right wheels, and to turn (rotate left and right wheels opposite each other).
  • The middle 7 wheels on each side are attached to connectors that can move up and down.-- A pose control dial for each wheel controls the up/ down movement.
  • The left and right treads include morphs to match the up and down position of the wheels, but they are not connected to the pose control dials.

Textures/ Materials:

  • Two textures/ material files:
  • Green 1
  • Green 2
  • Includes texture, normal bump map, and AO map, all at 4096x4096 pixels.
  • All materials use Superfly shaders. The model will not render correctly using Firefly.

Designed for use in Poser 11 and above and not supported in any other software.

Product Features (DAZ Studio):

  • DAZ Studio prop: includes dsf, duf/ png, at 161,971 polygons.

  • All of the materials use Iray shaders.

Designed for use in DAZ Studio 4.9 and above with Iray. Not recommended for use in other software programs.

Product Features (obj and fbx):

  • Approx 161,971 polygons.
  • Made entirely with 3 point polygons (triangles).
  • Includes group information, which your software should interpret as separate parts: turret, barrel, left and right hatches, wheels, and more.
  • Includes logically named materials, such as body metal, glass, and more. This makes it very easy to recolor the model.
  • The obj version of the model is not rigged.
  • The obj version includes an mtl file, which your software program should read to colorize the model.

Textures:

  • The model includes basic UV mapping.
  • Two color schemes with texture maps and corresponding bump maps, at 4096x4096 pixels.
  • You'll have to apply your own metal and glass shaders.

For use in any software that can import obj or fbx files.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras

Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal

No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
