DESCRIPTION

Overview

The engraving texture set is intended for small parts on sword and other weapons, jewelry, metal ornamentation, spacers, seals/gasket, casings, kitchen utensils, non-slip safety surfaces, handles, and lower layered meshes in general. To increase the details on surface and generate highlights, this material (among the others in our available products) has been created to provide more presence to these smaller areas. This is especially useful for high quality renders and close-up shots.

Content

The package contains only textures, a 3D model is not provided.

Workflow: Allegorithmic/Substance PBR Material, Metallic/Roughness Workflow (with alternative aged maps)

Dimension: Intended to be freely scaled, usually up to 20cm/8in looks best. The lower dimension range can be used to create structured, lit patterns (see preview images).

BaseColor Map (RGB/8bit, sRGB IEC61966-2.1): Minimal color variation for a natural look.
BaseColor Aged Map (RGB/8bit, sRGB IEC61966-2.1): Slightly more noisy alternative then the BaseColor Map.
Metallic (Gray/8bit, D50): Either full-metal or non-metal provided.
Normal Map (RGB/8bit, sRGB IEC61966-2.1): Provided in OpenGL and DirectX format.
Normal Aged Map (RGB/8bit, sRGB IEC61966-2.1): Alternative with increased variation of the surface details. Again OpenGL and DirectX formats are provided.
Roughness Map (Gray/16bit, D50): Subtle variations representing a newly, industrial produced surface.
Roughness Aged Map (Gray/16bit, D50): Alternative with slight wear and tear, but the surface is mostly kept intact. Just the right amount to avoid repeating patterns over larger areas.

Resolution: All maps are 4096x4096 pixels

File format: Texture maps are PNG in a ZIP file, color/grayscale and colorspace are given in brackets for each map.

Shader

The package contains texture maps, an example image of a shader design can be found in the free demo package. Your application must allow custom shaders in the metallic/roughness workflow, and each map must be able to scale independently, which default shaders usually do not provide.

For better view on the surface the Fresnel effect has been intentionally adjusted for the preview images.
