DESCRIPTION

Hey all!

This is a duo of effects:

  • White shock
    Whenever a character is extremely surprised, frightended suddenly or got really shocking news or defeated to an embarresing level, they turn all-white with funny eyes and expression.
  • Goosebumps
    Whenever a character gets a fright, they generally get a shock flow around the edges that looks like electricity waves. In this case - vertically set, but flows around the character's outer edge.

Included:

  • For Anime White Shock
  • For Anime Goosebumps
  • Funny eyes and shader with shapekeys
  • Demo scene with suzanne and the eyes all setup with outlines

White shock Settings:

  • Image
    Raw image or image with outlines lines already generated
  • Normal
    Normal Pass
  • Asset Mask
    Generally for characters, using the asset version of the Cryptomatte gives you everything parented to the rig - which means the whole character in one go - much easier than masking every material. As long as everything's in the mask, you're good.
  • Flat White <-> Shaded
    The white shock has many looks, but my fav is when it's lightly shaded or completely white. This allows you to have that mix to where you like it.
  • Tune Shading (HSV, Value)
    Sometimes a character can look dark when desaturated, this allows you to boost it.
  • Saturation (HSV)
    Desaturates everything within the mask.
  • Lines Influence (Does not affect Only outputs)
    As in the outer lines that form part of the effect, not outlines.
  • Lines Texture scale
    Scale of the base lines texture
  • Lines Offset - X
    Influences the lines' Mask
  • Lines Offset - Y
    Influences the lines' Mask
  • Lines Rotation
    Lines' rotation. 360' both ways, so you can flip them in any direction you prefer from 0. There is no clamp, so you can type in custom ranges if you wanna go beyond 360 in any direction.
  • X - Lines Texture Offset
    Allows for animation of the base line texture.
  • Y - Lines Texture Offset
    Allows for animation of the base line texture.
  • Z - Lines Texture Offset
    Allows for morphing animation of the base line texture.
  • Cracks Influence
    Cracks are an additional element - note it's tied to the view, not the world.
  • Cracks Scale
    Cracks scale
  • Holes Mask (Addition)
    Any non-parented objects you want to include in the mask to make sure the lines are not in the middle of your character/object.
  • Outline Influence
    Generated with the normal pass (Does not affect Only outputs). Without these, you won't have any lines on your effect, unless you generated them before so you can add them after.

Goosebumps Settings

  • Image
    Base image
  • Mask
    Object mask to get the distorted edge.
  • Distortion Strength
    How much distortion
  • Influence
    How strong the effect should be - allows you to animated it appearing and disappearing based on strength instead of simply fading in or out.
  • Distortion Texture Scale
    Base texture scale - only needed for adjustment on character distance from camera.
  • Wave Speed Adjustment
    If things happen in slow-motion, then you need to be able to control the speed - that's where this comes in

This is an incredible addition to the already massive toolset I have been able to share with you guys!

NOTE: I have NOT tested it with Cycles, but all the features for this nodegroup's compositing requirements are supported, so it should be fine.
