High-quality 3D model of the German Stahlhelm M1916 (M16) helmet with its rare Stirnpanzer frontal armor plate. This historic design marked a turning point in military protection during World War I, replacing the old leather Pickelhaube.
The M16 helmet, introduced in 1916, was created to protect German soldiers from shrapnel and artillery fragments in trench warfare. Designed by engineer Friedrich Schwerd, its rounded steel shape became an icon of WWI.
The Stirnpanzer was an optional 5 mm steel plate attached to the helmet’s side lugs. It provided extra protection for snipers and sentries but was too heavy (around 2 kg) for regular combat use.
