Description

Buckler low-poly 3d model ready for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), games and other real-time apps.

A buckler (French bouclier 'shield', from Old French bocle, boucle 'boss') is a small shield, up to 45 cm (up to 18 in) in diameter, gripped in the fist with a central handle behind the boss. While being used in Europe since antiquity, it became more common as a companion weapon in hand-to-hand combat during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Its size made it poor protection against missile weapons (e.g., arrows) but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent's weapons, binding his arms or hindering his movements. -wikipedia.org

A more duel-centric shield, the buckler helps ensure a more fluid form. It deflects cutting attacks not only on its flat surface, but usually with the edge. It will not easily break as the effective thickness is not measured by the front side to the back, but by the edge to its center radius. Unlike standard shields, the buckler can also be used to bash or stagger opponents far quicker due to its small size.

Usage: Duels and other similar hand-to-hand combat; battlefield use is unlikely. Timeline: around 1100 (High Middle Ages) to 1600 (Renaissance)
