A hammock-shaped carbon fibre bathtub NSVcombining two major symbols of relaxation, a hammock and a tub, splinter works have developed a new bathing experience in the form of ‘vessel’. conceived for use in a wet room, the design is fixed to adjacent walls with stainless steel brackets, so that it hovers above the floor. sloping shape offers plenty of room in which to kick-back and escape, perhaps with another. the washbasin is filled via a floor standing tap with waste water released through its base, which is then emptied into a floor drain. a downpipe drain can be installed in the case that a wet room setting is not possible.the sculptural piece is made from layers of carbon fibre, with a foam core which insulates the bath longer than normal and can be customized–it can be trimmed up to 20 cm–to allow for flexible installation. with distinct visual references to taking a break and unwinding, ‘vessel’ encompasses the art of relaxation, elevating, quite literally, the bathing experience.
