DESCRIPTION

First designed for the University of Jyväskylä in 1953, Alvar Aalto's A331 Beehive Pendant Light has gone on to become one of Artek's best-selling lamps.Tiered painted aluminium is punctuated by polished brass or chrome rings, where light is diffused to project a warm glow around the room. The sculptural design of the Artek Beehive Pendant Light offers a decorative appeal even when not in use.Generally designed as part of a broader architectural scheme, Alvar Aalto's lights were designed with the effect on their environment in mind, and the A331 is no exception. Exemplifying Aalto's command of form, attention to detail and the artistic value in these combined elements, the Beehive Pendant Light continues to stand the test of time.
