Description: Bent and welded wire-mesh side chair

Inspired by trays, dress forms, baskets, and animal traps, the Eames Office investigated bent and welded wire as the basis for furniture designs. Like the molded-fiberglass chair, the wire-mesh chair is a uni-shell design. As was true of the design process for the plywood and fiberglass furnishings, the Eameses' mass-produced wire chairs and tables were created after considerable experimentation in at the outer limits of the fabrication technique. – The Work of Charles and Ray Eames
