These machines are located at the Yongsan-gu Office and Itaewon 2-dong Community Center. These vending machines dispense volume-based waste bags, which are mandatory for garbage disposal in South Korea. The system supports the country’s pay-as-you-throw policy, encouraging responsible waste generation.

Some bags feature “Daengfluencer” rescue dog characters, combining environmental messaging with friendly design. “Daengfluencer” (댕플루언서) is a Korean portmanteau combining “댕댕이” (daengdaengi, a cute slang word for dog ) and “인플루언서” (inpeulluenseo, influencer). It literally translates to “dog influencer”. The goal is to promote waste reduction and recycling while also raising awareness about dog adoption and rescue culture.
