DESCRIPTION

"The only place in the whole world where a comet is the object of worship is a temple at Rome. His late Majesty Augustus had deemed this comet very propitious to himself; as it had appeared not long after the decease of his father Caesar. People believed that this star signified the soul of Caesar received among the spirits of the immortal gods."Pliny the Elder, Naturalis Historia, 2.93-94

[In Greek and Roman culture Comet is an adjective determining the distinctive characteristic of a special Star. So a Comet Star is a Long-Haired Star and so it was represented on coins and monuments as you can see in the images.]

The Perfect Model for Real Ancient Roman Environment Rendering!

The Temple of Caesar was begun in the Roman Forum in Rome in 42 BC by Augustus and dedicated on August 18, 29 BC, after the Battle of Actium: the Warships rostra attached to the temple were the ones from the defeated ships of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. As we know from Pliny the Elder and the coins struck by Augustus, the Temple was also the worship-place of the Comet Star, being the Comet Star the symbol of the deification of Julius Caesar.

This is an accurate reconstruction of the Temple of Caesar according to the reconstruction by the famous Roman Forum archaeologist Christian Huelsen: two frontal staircases, altar niche and composite order with corinthian pilasters.

ATTENTION: In this reconstruction Model, all the plan irregularities have been respected.

The plan of the temple and the site itself were naturally irregular [Richardson], due to the Romans' devotion to that very particular place where Caesar was publicly cremated and then deified [44 BC]: the temple was built thus in an irregular position between the Forum Main Square and the Regia and in a few years partially covered with other great monuments, i.e. Porticus Iulia and the Arch of Augustus, in order to create a majestic monumental complex. Its rear section and walls, in addition, seem to have been built, knowing that the walls of the Regia, which stood behind the temple, were too close [Stamper].

In the package you will find:A-The Temple of Caesar with a two podia system and pediment decoration;B-8 Composite Columns and 4 Corinthian Pilasters according to Huelsen's reconstruction;C-Real original Mouldings;D-Real original Entablature and Entablature Decoration according to Stamper/Cambridge scheme and the surviving remains still visible in the Roman Forum;E-Complete Statue of Deified Julius Caesar in Gilded Bronze with Comet Star and Lituus [Attention: this is a more advanced version of this model than the independent product "ArchaeoSys ForVUE: Statue of Deified Julius Caesar"];F-Temple cella complete with wall and floor textures and decorations;G-Bronze doors with hinges, all movable parts, ready for animations;H-Gilded Bronze tiles roof, as typical for the Roman Important Monuments;I-Real coffers ceiling with Temple typical laurel crown decorations;J-14 warships bronze rams attached to the main podium [Dio Cassius and Hadrian era coins];K-81 Hi-Quality Photoreal Textures with Bump, Diffuse and Alpha Maps;L-more Alternate materials for C4D and VUE to fully customize the renderings.

All ready for Hi-Quality PhotoReal Rendering.

Formats available:A-Cinema4D [from CE6 up]C-VUE [VUE6 and VUE7]D-.ObjE-.3ds

All the Format Models are complete and come with:Complete materials and Textures [81 textures].

All the models are HI-DEF and so are perfect for every type of shot, also Details and Close-Ups.

A few main Technical Details of Reconstruction:1-all the still surviving decorations of the Temple [i.e. the decorations of the entablature] were added to the model;2-Augustan era type lateral antefixes were added;3-Augustan era type decorations were added for the altar and the podium;4-functional colours and decorations were added following the Roman classical functional colour scheme for monuments: black, red, yellowgold sheets and gilded bronze sheets monument clothingOptional rendering without colours and coloured decorations with simple marble and travertine scheme;5-the clay tiles all clothed with gilded bronze sheets, as for all the most important monuments;6-the pediment decoration was made according to the hypothetical reconstruction of the Etruscan Style Original Decoration clearly seen on the coins struck by Augustus in 37-34 BC and different from the Hadrian Era Statues system visible on the Hadrian's coins [125-128AD];7-All the irregularities of the original plan have been followed, since the monument was built between the Forum Main Square and the Regia with a considerable amount of lack of real space for building.

These models are useful for many types of sceneries, ancient sceneries but also modern ones, as for Roman re-enactment.

The Archaeo.Sys 3D series is developing high-fidelity 3D reconstruction of Objects, Architecture and Scenes from Classical Greek and Roman Antiquity.
