Utrecht is a city in the central part of the Netherlands, which for many centuries remained a religious center. It has a medieval Old Town, canals, Christian monuments and a prestigious university. The famous Domtoren Bell Tower, built in the 14th century, offers views of the city. Opposite it, on the central Domplein square, stands the Gothic Cathedral of St. Martin. The museum of the former St. Catherine's Monastery displays religious art and other relics.
