Ashgabat is the capital of Turkmenistan, famous for its white marble buildings and grandiose monuments. In the northwestern part of the city stands the Turkmenbashi Rukhy Mosque with a huge golden dome. In the city center you can see the Ertogrulgazı Mosque, modeled after the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Another interesting building is the Bagt Koshgi Wedding Palace. Its building, consisting of several levels in the shape of stars, is topped with a golden ball. The Turkmen Carpet Museum displays examples of traditional weaving.
