Portable pocket players: CD player, cassette player, FM player, MD playerPlayer (from the English player - player) - usually a portable audio or video-reproducing device

The first portable digital player was SONY Discman D-50 (1984, according to other sources - 1982).

After it was a mini-CD player developed by Sony and presented to a wide audience in 1992. However, because of the high cost and copy protection technologies, MD players have gained popularity, but they have not completely replaced CD players and CD players.

The first MP3 player, in the modern sense of the word, was released to the market in 1996 and immediately won the audience award at the annual Internet conference [1]. The first players had a very small amount of memory, since flash memory was expensive at that time. So, the South Korean MPMan player, introduced in mid-1998, had only 32 MB of memory. Therefore, in the same year, Compaq introduced the first player based on a hard drive with almost 5 GB of memory [2], and many other manufacturers offered MP3 players that use a CD as a media (such devices are usually supported as MP3 discs , and audio-CD).

In October 2001, Apple introduced the iPod first generation. A year later, Apple released the second generation iPod, compatible with Windows-based computers, this series became the market leader. Archos Company in 2007 released the first portable media player with the ability to view photos and play videos [3].

At the same time, digital music players appeared in mobile phones. This idea spread around the world, and by 2005 all major phone manufacturers had released their musicphones. This has become one of the main reasons for developing the iPhone.
