DESCRIPTION

A Poké Ball (Pokéball in Latin America by the anime, モ ン ス タ ー ボ ー ル Monster Ball in Japanese), also known briefly as ball, is a contraption or object designed to serve two basic functions in the Pokémon world, store and transport Pokémon, making it possible to capture of Pokémon.

Its name comes from English, «ball», which means ball; and the prefix Poké extracted from pocket, which means pocket. The construction of the name makes clear allusion to its spherical shape and its small size, which allow its easy transport and shelter in the pockets of the trainer. In this sense, it has great influence on the name Pokémon, because it also derives from pocket, and monsters, forming pocket monsters. The Pokémon could not be such, if the Poké Ball that contain them did not have that size.

The Poké Balls are possibly the most distinctive symbol of the Pokémon franchise. In addition, in the Pokémon world it is also common to find references to these devices, from combat stadiums with their circular shape, to as a decoration element in walls and floors. The symbol of the Poké Balls, also very present, consists of two semicircles separated by half, with another complete circle in the middle, which represents the opening button.

Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
