The first mention of cherubim in the pages of the Bible comes almost from the moment of creation. It is described that the Lord, after the first people were expelled from Paradise, placed a cherubim with a fiery sword on the gates of the Garden of Eden. Both King David and the prophet Ezekiel mentioned them - they commemorate the cherubim as the main means of moving God. But this purpose of the angelic rank is controversial, in Christian sources it is mentioned that other angels, whose name is thrones, fulfill this role.
