La Fundación Mies van der Rohe fue creada en 1983 por el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona con el propósito inicialmente de reconstruir el Pabellón Alemán, diseñado por Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) para la Exposición Internacional de Barcelona de 1929. A parte de conservar y divulgar información del Pabellón de Mies van der Rohe, hoy en día ofrece debate y conocimiento sobre temas relacionados con la arquitectura moderna y planificación urbana.
