DESCRIPTION

The Master of the Nets Garden is located at No. 11 Kuojiatou Alley, Taichengqiao Road, southeast of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, about 120 kilometers away from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. It is a representative work of a medium-sized classical landscape house in Suzhou gardens. The Garden of the Master of the Nets was built in the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127~1279). It was the former site of the Wanjuantang of the Yangzhou literati Shi Zhengzhi, a bibliophile in the Song Dynasty and an official to ministerial servant. The garden was named Yuyin and was abandoned. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (about 1770 AD), the retired Guanglu Temple Shaoqing Song Zongyuan purchased and rebuilt it, and the garden was named Master of the Nets Garden.

The Master of the Nets Garden has changed its owners several times. Most of the owners are literati and scholars, each with their poems and inscriptions left in the garden, and they have undergone repairs and finishing. The Master of the Nets Garden covers an area of ??about half a hectare and is the smallest garden in Suzhou. The main buildings in the park include Cong Guixuan, Zhuoyingshui Pavilion, Kansongdu Painting Pavilion, Dianchunzhu, etc. The pavilions, terraces, pavilions and pavilions of the Master of the Nets Garden are all facing the water. There is water to rely on everywhere in the garden. The various buildings are properly coordinated and the layout is compact, which is known for its ingenuity.

The Master of the Nets Garden is a typical private garden that combines a house with a garden. The residential part has four entrances, from the car hall, the large living room, the Xixiu Building, and the Wufeng Bookstore, which are spread out along the central axis. The main hall Wanjuantang is spacious and elegantly decorated.

The Master of the Nets Garden is a key cultural relic protection unit in China and a world cultural heritage.
