DESCRIPTION

This is a 3D model of a fantasy dragon.

It has been created in ZBrush and was retopologized and UV-mapped/unwrapped in 3D-COAT. Also the lowpoly version was reduced with 3D-COAT, too. Rendered with ZBrush and 3D-COAT.As you see, I have included various versions of this dragon. Here some short points to every model:

Dragon Head (v1):

the normal model, normal expression

seperated in parts: body, teeth top, teeth bottom, eyesUV mapped and unwrapped (+white textures)also original OBJ-model parts included

Dragon Head v2:

exactly the same as v1 except it has another expressionalso changed bottom part so it can be placed straight on some kind of object or model

Dragon Head lowpoly:

exactly the same as v1 except it is scaled down to a count of total 55,643 polygons.

DAE (collada) file format included

Dragon head 3D-Print (beta):

slight optimizations for 3D printingnot seperated in body parts, one whole pieceless edges etc (see below)normal expression, normal detailNOTE: model has been tested for 3D-printing and is confirmed working (for my model print atleast). Setup for the specific print:

file type used: STL printed via i.materialize

material: Polyamide (SLS) - natural white, polished

dimensions: 29.30 x 54.63 x 58.46 mm

With this setup the sculpt is even able to stand easily on hard, flat surfaces without falling forward. Here though the specific changes made to this model: Retopologized with ZBrush for less edgesMouth cant be opened, merged together for solid piece (-> no hidden edges or polys)no seperate parts or hidden meshbottom part edited so it does not intersect with the object its standing on when put onto somethingless spikey spine partsexported as STL fileless polygons than 1 million (it has 959,989 polygons ... also see !stats.txt in the zip archive)Thats it so far for the different versions of this model. Some things that might get changed in future though are textures (atm they are just white), the top head has a small line that doesnt look extremely authentic when watched from direct top, poly count is pretty low when thought about that it is a high-poly model (hence the details look a bit more unrealistic when zooming in very close).I am sorry for everyone that the file size is so big, but otherwise this would have been hundreds of different files and it would be very confusing to pick the right ones, so I've decided to let them be in a zip archive where most accessable file formats are already in there. I've added in-picture descriptions (preview images) for that, so you don't accidentially download the wrong file.

CREDITING: This model is (at this moment, and probs even forever) downloadable for free and can be used for anything you want it to use. Just make sure to properly credit me when using it for some kind of advertisement/video/render/artwork etc. As I can see by myself that its not always possible: If you are in such a situation feel free to just ask me if you got some questions. I will very likely answer them ;)Sorry for everyone who uses collada files, my program kept crashing when I was exporting the file as DAE and I don't know why. Exception is the lowpoly model. If you have any kind of suggestions about the model or if I am missing a file format etc feel free to write me a message or add a comment. Time the modeling itself took: roughly 7 hours (I messed up alot and was testing the thing where you give the object texture).Nevertheless, I still hope you like my dragon.

Lets see what model comes next. Cheers ^3^

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
