DESCRIPTION

Very high quality and detailed digital sculpture of a Tyrannosaurus Rex Skull. Includes all the mayor bones of the skull and mandibule, and each bone is a separate object.

Special attention was put in defining the contacts and connections between all the bones.

General Features:

  • Includes highpoly sculpted model in Zbrush, with subdivision levels and UVs.
  • Includes high density Decimated meshes that can be used for 3D printing (see notes).
  • Includes LowRes meshes with UVs (lowest subdivision level).
  • Sculpted in real life scale 1:1 (Skull length: 150cm approx.)

Included Bones:

CRANIUM:

  • Premaxilla
  • Maxilla
  • Nasal
  • Lacrimal
  • Jugal
  • Postorbital
  • Vomer
  • Palatine
  • Pterygoid
  • Ectopterygoid
  • Quadrate
  • Quadratojugal
  • Squamosal
  • Braincase (Fused Bones)

JAW:

  • Dentary
  • Supradentary
  • Splenial
  • Prearticular
  • Angular
  • Surangular + Articular (Fused)

Included Files & Formats:

  • .ZTL (Zbrush 2019.1.2) Sculpted meshes with subdivision levels (42.5 million points)

  • .OBJ - High density Decimated meshes. (7.2 million triangles)

  • .OBJ & .FBX - LowRes Meshes. Lowest subdivision Level of the meshes with Polygroups/Materials IDs. (43.700 Quad polys)

Notes:

  1. The model does NOT have textures, and it not rigged.
  2. This model was created from scratch by carefully studying photos and scientific papers of Tyrannosaurus Rex anatomy available online. Although a great effort was made to make it accurate, this model MAY NOT be 100% anatomically correct. It is NOT a 3D scan.
  3. This model was created with Zbrush version 2019.1.2. In case you are using an older version of Zbrush, you can import the Decimated and LowRes Meshes to your version of Zbrush, and re-project the details, you practically won’t lose any detail.
  4. The preview images were rendered and created only to showcase the model. The provided files do not include any lighting or rendering setup, only 3d models.
  5. The preview images used to showcase the model here are not part of the product. You are not buying a right to use the preview images.
  6. The “filler meshes” used to close the gap between the bones, don’t have UVs. The Decimated versions don’t have UVs either.

3D printing Notes:

The OBJ Decimated versions can be used for 3d printing, since all the bones are watertight and have no holes. However, depending on the printing size, the type of printer, materials, etc., you may need to do some additional editing in a 3D Software. For example, you may need to make some parts thicker, add support sprues, split parts, etc.

Thank you!

FBX
This FBX file has successfully passed the CGT Standard technical and visual checks. The verification results are detailed in the section below.
File & scene
Binary FBX
Binary FBX file is more compact and faster to load and process.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
