DESCRIPTION

Pentaceratops was a large, herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 75 to 73 million years ago. It was closely related to the famous Triceratops and measured about 6 to 8 meters (20 to 26 feet) in length. Pentaceratops had a distinctive appearance, with five facial horns—three on its face and two additional smaller ones near its eyes—and a large bony frill at the back of its skull, which may have been used for display or protection. It roamed the ancient floodplains of what is now North America, primarily in the region of modern-day New Mexico. Pentaceratops is notable for having one of the largest skulls of any land animal.
