Douglas TBD-1 Devestator V11 3D model

The TBD was ordered by the US Navy in 1934 and first flew in 1935. It began production and started service in 1937 and at the time was the most advanced aircraft in the US Navy and possibly the world. However these years just before WWII had very fast development of aircraft with increased capabilities and characteristics. By the time the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor Hawaii drawing the US into WWII, the TBD was badly outdated and obsolete. It however was still in-service at the time of the Battle of Coral Sea and Midway. At Coral Sea it was moderately effective, but at Midway it was a complete disaster and only one pilot survived the battle in all of the torpedo quadroons. It was soon replaced with the Grumman TBF, a much better torpedo bomber aircraft.The model was built near to scale in real units and built based on drawings, photos, and other documents. This model has a moderately detailed cockpit and the following animateable features; sliding canopy, ailerons, elevators, rudder, and wheels. These models render very well and look very realistic using good animation, lighting and rendering technique. It can be used in an animated or static position within a scene, animation or animated video, or possibly programming for a flight simulation application. This model was not designed for 3d printing, these are to be used as digital files only. This model is fully textured with all materials UVW mapped and applied. Most materials are planar mapped and major materials include texturing. All textures and materials are included as shown.
