St Paul Building

St Paul Building Free 3D print model

Description

The St. Paul Building was a 315ft (96m) tall skyscraper in New York City. Located at the intersection of Broadway and Ann St just across the street from St. Paul's Chapel, the building was a unique pioneer in New York's race to build towards the sky. The slender highrise was designed in a Beaux Arts style by prominent architect George B. Post. The building was completed in 1898 and demolished 60 years later in 1958 to make way for the Western Electric Building, a modernist office building. However, a small piece of the building still survives to this day. Karl Bitter's sculpture depicting 3 men holding up part of the building that once adorned the entrance to the St. Paul Building has been preserved and put on display in Holliday Park in Indianapolis.
