I’m excited to share this low poly 3D model of the AIM-9L Sidewinder missile, created in Blender and designed for animations, game integration, and cinematic close-ups and large-scale scenes. This model is based on one of the most widely used heat-seeking air-to-air missiles since the 1970s inspired by extensive references to match the structure and functionality of the real infrared-guided missile.
The missile is fully rigged, allowing for smooth control of fins, rollerons, and tilt movements—perfect for creating dynamic flight and launch animations. The geometry is optimized with a low poly count for efficient performance without sacrificing visual fidelity. The textures aim to recreate realistic materials, from metallic bodywork to subtle surface wear, making it ideal for cinematic renders, VFX shots, and military-themed projects.
Included Versions:
Modular Version (Close-Up Ready):Each component is separated (fins, rollerons, arming key, umbilical connector, etc.) and has its own texture set. Ideal for close-ups or animations where parts need to move or be highlighted.
Unified Version (Optimized for Distance):A single mesh with a consolidated texture atlas. Lightweight and ideal for distant shots or when using many missiles in a scene.
