Virginia RC Model 1-72","price":25.0,"description":"CSS Virginia Version 2.0! I have redesigned this model from square 1.\n\nThis 1/72 scale model is based on the Civil War era ironclad CSS Virginia (formerly USS Merrimac.) It is my interpretation of the ship from John Porter's plans received directly from the US National Archives, as well as sketches/pictures available online, and photos of the Virginia model located in the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. I have designed this model into three primary sections to assist in running gear installation for RC models: the hull, the bottom portion of the casemate, and the upper portion. (See preview photos.) The idea is that the hull can be assembled, running gear installed, and then the bottom casemate will be permanently affixed to the hull, and the upper portion will be removable.\n\nI am also including optional cannon porthole covers for the forward angled cannons if wanted, a stand, and the stocks for the anchors can be left off if desired.\n\nI tried to keep all pieces under 250mm for printing. Some slicing may be required though.\n\nAt 1/72 scale this model is about about 1.2m long, 215mm wide, and 273mm tall with 41 files + instructions. (Some files are printed in duplicate.) Her keel was laid on March 10, 1903 at the New York Naval Shipyard, and she was commissioned on September 29, 1906 as the most advanced ship in the US Navy. The Connecticut-class ships were the most powerful pre-dreadnought battleships ever built by the US Navy, armed with a formidable mixed battery of 12-inch, 8-inch, and 7-inch guns — a layered weapons system designed to engage enemies at multiple ranges simultaneously. Her belt armor reached 11 inches in thickness, her main turrets were protected by 12 inches of steel, and her two triple-expansion steam engines drove her to a top speed of 18 knots on two shafts. Even before the last of her sister ships entered service, however, history was already moving against her. The Connecticut class was rendered obsolescent almost immediately by the advent of the all-big-gun battleship epitomized by the British HMS Dreadnought — a vessel whose revolutionary design made every mixed-battery battleship in the world overnight irrelevant. Yet Connecticut's place in naval history was already secured. As flagship of the Atlantic Fleet from April 1907, Connecticut led the Great White Fleet — sixteen battleships painted white — on a globally demonstrative cruise departing Hampton Roads, Virginia in December 1907, visiting ports across the Atlantic and Pacific, calling at South America, Australia, Japan, and the Philippines before returning in February 1909, showcasing American naval power to the world under President Theodore Roosevelt. The voyage covered over 43,000 miles and was the largest peacetime naval deployment in American history to that point. During World War I, Connecticut was pressed into service as a training ship and later as a troop transport, helping return American Expeditionary Forces from France. Her end came as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, which mandated the scrapping of older battleships to prevent a post-war naval arms race, and she was sold for scrap in November 1923 — a fate shared by all six of her class, leaving none preserved for posterity. Our 1:96 scale 3D printable model captures Connecticut in her Great White Fleet configuration — the most iconic and historically evocative period of her career — faithfully reconstructed from historical photographs, plans, and period documentation to bring this legendary ship back to life on your workbench.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/5nWvx3oXH2w\n\n3D printing settings\nThis model has been designed from the ground up for accessibility and buildability on standard home FDM printers. The file pack includes over 70 separate high-poly STL files, all sliced to fit on a standard print bed of 22×22 cm, producing a finished model approximately 1 meter in length — a genuinely substantial and impressive display piece that captures the imposing presence of the real ship at scale. The hull is divided into manageable sections with integrated alignment details at every joint, ensuring clean and accurate assembly without guesswork. Many of the most characterful features of the Connecticut — her twin main turrets fore and aft, her distinctive secondary turrets flanking the superstructure, her tall funnels and cage masts — are all rendered as separate, detailed components that build up into a richly layered finished model. Accessories included in the pack cover torpedo launchers, cannons, Gatling guns, and both row and powered dinghies, giving builders the flexibility to configure the ship in different ways and build her to whatever level of detail suits their preference. The hull interior is left open, making the model well suited to RC conversion projects for those who want to take her onto the water. We recommend printing the hull in a clean off-white or light grey to replicate her Great White Fleet livery, or in standard battleship grey for her later service appearance — both look outstanding at this scale. The tall mast structures and fine deck fittings reward a well-tuned printer and a steady hand, but the overall build is approachable and deeply satisfying from first print to finished ship.","imageAlt":null,"url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/uss-connecticut-1m-model-bb18","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":false,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/svl6gr64uumhs5tvxje6ccgc8ghc/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/00.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/svl6gr64uumhs5tvxje6ccgc8ghc/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/00.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/uss-connecticut-1m-model-bb18","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"hobby-diy","subcategorySlug":"robotics","categoryTitle":"Hobby \u0026 DIY","subcategoryTitle":"RC \u0026 Robotics","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/7021953/5a3916b90b/uss-connecticut-1m-model-bb18-3d-model-5a3916b90b.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"7032085","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":7032085,"title":"CSS Neuse 1m RC Ready Ironclad with Full Interior Detail","price":34.9,"description":"3D model description\nThis fully RC-ready 3D printable model of the CSS Neuse measures 1,000mm in length at 1:48 scale, bringing one of the most fascinating Confederate ironclads in history to life at a scale that does full justice to her distinctive character and remarkable story. Enlarged from our earlier 628mm display version and comprehensively redesigned for radio control operation from the ground up, this is a complete reimagining of the model rather than a simple rescale — every aspect of the hull structure, interior layout, and assembly system has been revisited and optimized for the demands of RC building and on-water operation. The kit includes a comprehensive library of STL files covering the full hull, superstructure, and an extensive accessory set, with finished builds easily exceeding 150 parts depending on the builder's chosen level of detail. The fully furnished interior remains a centerpiece of the model — cannons, cannon shots, ammunition chests, barrels, crates, furniture, stairs, railings, and crew accessories are all included and reinforced for reliable FDM printing. The top superstructure is divided into sections, with the center section functioning as a removable access lid for displaying the interior or accessing RC electronics. The increased scale of this version means the interior volume is generous enough to accommodate a full RC electronics package comfortably, without the tight compromises that smaller-scale RC ironclad builds typically demand. A full-color 3MF file is also included for owners of color-capable printers.\n\n3D printing settings\nThis model has been designed specifically for RC operation and built with practical on-water use as its primary goal rather than an afterthought. Dedicated motor mounts, propeller shaft braces reinforced to accommodate standard propeller shafts and tubing, and a clean over-deck rudder lever system with linkage points concealed within the superstructure — styled authentically as chain-passage holes — are all fully integrated into the design. At 1:48 scale the beam of the model reaches approximately 213mm, providing generous interior width for side-by-side motor, ESC, battery, and receiver installation without compromise. All hull sections are sliced to fit print beds with a minimum 22×22 cm footprint and 25 cm print height, with both two-piece and four-piece hull options provided to accommodate different printer sizes. We recommend printing all structural hull components in PETG for improved water resistance and impact toughness, though PLA prints cleanly and is perfectly adequate for display builds. Recommended settings are 0.16–0.20mm layer height, 3–4 perimeter walls, and 20–25% infill for larger structural parts — the increased wall count is particularly important for hull sections that will be exposed to water. Smaller accessories and interior fittings can be printed at finer layer heights for sharper definition, or on a resin printer for the highest possible surface detail on the finest components. The hull remains an empty, strong frame; all major external features – rotating propellers, an articulated rudder, deck‑cranes, and the main \u0026 secondary cannons – move freely, giving you a realistic, pose‑able display. In addition, the new version includes a motor‑mounting plate and a servo holder, and key details have been tweaked to simplify the installation of motors, servos, and wiring, making a functional RC conversion straightforward. The pack contains over 140 high‑poly STL files (now slightly increased to 150 + files after the additions) and a single full‑color 3MF master file for one‑step colour printing.\n\n3D printing settings\nPrint with PLA or PETG at 0.16–0.20 mm layer height, 3–4 perimeters and moderate infill – the same settings that keep the large parts robust yet detail‑rich. The hull and bulkhead pieces glue together into a solid frame; the articulated parts are bolt‑on and snap‑into place. For RC, mount the motor plate inside the hull, attach the servo holder to the rudder, and feed the servo leads through the existing hollow hull. The new motor mounting plate provides a secure spot for a 12‑V brushed or brushless motor, and the servo holder holds the steering servo close to the rudder axis for smooth, responsive control. The propellers can be replaced with motor‑driven propellers if desired, and the existing opening/closing hatches give easy access to battery packs or a small onboard computer. Designed by Charles W. Whitney and constructed by J.S. Underhill Shipbuilders in New York, the 159‑ft‑long ship displaced 677 long tons and carried two 250‑hp steam engines driving twin 7‑ft screws. Armed with two 11‑inch Dahlgren smoothbore guns and a ram bow, the Keokuk joined the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron in March 1863 to support the attack on Charleston, arriving at Newport News two days later. Our 1:48‑scale file pack captures every detail of this historic ironclad while keeping construction manageable: the hull and superstructure are assembled from just fifteen printed parts, and the pack contains more than 110 high‑poly STL files for every turret, gun, interior and exterior accessory. A full‑color 3MF master file is also included, so the ship can be printed in one step with a colour printer or in separate colours if preferred.\n\n3D printing settings\nPrint the STL files at 0.2 mm layer height (or finer for extra detail) in PLA or PETG; resin prints work well at 0.05 mm. Slice with Cura or PrusaSlicer, adding supports only where necessary—most hull panels are self‑supporting. The 3MF file contains all geometry, material, and colour data for any printer that supports the format. Assembly is straightforward: each large piece has built‑in mounting surfaces, and the pack includes three types of clips that keep the parts together while glue sets. Two historically accurate or RC‑oriented propellers are supplied, and the entire upper deck is designed as an access lid for RC projects. Interior access hatches, covered by two barbets, allow quick battery replacements, while a rear hood gives easy access to the rudder mechanism. Two separate front barbettes are also provided. Use the included exploded‑view renders for clear guidance during assembly.","imageAlt":"3D print model USS Keokuk Civil War Ironclad","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/uss-keokuk-civil-war-ironclad","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":false,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/369fv1vfkf6xrbfxn135mn2zh60j/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/00.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/369fv1vfkf6xrbfxn135mn2zh60j/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/00.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/uss-keokuk-civil-war-ironclad","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":129,"name":".3mf","is_native":false},{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"hobby-diy","subcategorySlug":"robotics","categoryTitle":"Hobby \u0026 DIY","subcategoryTitle":"RC \u0026 Robotics","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/7094082/02cf2e648a/uss-keokuk-civil-war-ironclad-3d-model-02cf2e648a.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"7092486","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":7092486,"title":"Ironclad 3D Print STL Miniature RPG","price":2.0,"description":"Amazing 3D printable Ironclad.\nPerfect for board games, RPG and miniature collectors.\nReady to print and paint. I have redesigned this model from square 1.\n\nThis 1/72 scale model is based on the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor. It is based on plans from the National Archives, and photos/plans available on the Newport News Mariner Museum’s website. I have incorporated some of the details I’ve seen in various sketches/models online as well, and this is MY interpretation of how I feel the overall \"cheesebox on a raft\" looks. It also includes customizable options that can be seen in the preview pictures:\n\t- Pilothouse “skirt” (can be built with or without)\n\t- Dahlgren turret plug (to have one porthole closed while the other Dahlgren is out)\n\t- Removable air vents and smoke stacks (to run either rigged or stowed)\n\t- Turret canopy (I plan to make mine removable as well)\n\t- Lifeboats (that can be placed as desired by the modeler)\n\nI moved the size up to 1/72 scale, as the last model I made had some tight working spaces for running gear at 1/96. I also changed the style of how the main deck meets with the hull, with more surface area to (hopefully) keep water out more efficiently. I've included a stand for it as well.\n\nAt 1/72 scale this model is about 738mm long, 184mm wide, 89mm tall, with 28 files + instructions. (Some files are printed in duplicate.) A central citadel ironclad designed for Baltic Sea coastal defense, she carried six powerful 26cm barbette guns and a heavily layered armor belt, and was built to sortie from fortified bases to break enemy blockades — a direct response to the French naval blockade Germany had suffered during the Franco-Prussian War. Her most enduring historical legacy, however, extends far beyond German waters. The same AG Vulcan shipyard that built Sachsen was subsequently contracted by the Chinese Beiyang Fleet to construct the battleships Dingyuan and Zhenyuan, directly based on the Sachsen class design — ships that would go on to fight at the Battle of the Yellow Sea in 1894 and shape the entire course of East Asian naval history. Our 1:96 scale 3D printable model captures Sachsen in her original pre-reconstruction configuration, with the distinctive four funnels, open bow barbette, and the characterful low-freeboard silhouette that defined the class before the late 1890s overhaul transformed her appearance. If you also own our Dingyuan or Zhenyuan models, displaying Sachsen alongside her Chinese descendants makes for a uniquely compelling historical grouping that tells the full story of how one German shipyard's design shaped naval history on the other side of the world.\n\nHer sister ships were:\n\nSMS Bayern\nSMS Württemberg\nSMS Baden\n\n3D printing settings\nThis model has been designed from the ground up for accessibility, printability, and full RC operation. The core hull and superstructure consist of just 33 parts, all sliced to fit standard 22×22 cm print beds — making the main build clean, manageable, and straightforward even for builders new to large scale ship models. For those who want to push the build further, the complete package includes over 140 parts in total, with a comprehensive optional accessories library covering various deck guns, navigation lights, deck rails, fenders, and a selection of both steam-powered and row-powered dinghies in multiple configurations. The finished model is fully RC-ready with everything needed built directly into the design — dedicated motor mounts, a servo frame, articulated rudder, and multiple interior access hatches positioned throughout the hull for convenient reach to electronics during building and on-water operation. The interior volume at 1:96 scale is generous, with ample room to house batteries, ESCs, receiver, and servos without compromise. Hull sections feature precision alignment details at every joint for accurate, clean assembly, and two dedicated clip types are included to hold pieces securely while adhesive sets. Underwater and topside parts are separated throughout, allowing builders to print in different filament colors for an instant two-tone finish without painting. A full color 3MF file is also included for color-capable printer owners. We recommend 0.15mm layer height for hull surfaces and superstructure panels to bring out the rivet lines, armor plate details, and period surface character that make this model such a rewarding build from first print to finished ship.","imageAlt":"SMS Sachsen Imperial German Ironclad 1 96 3D print model 1","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/sms-sachsen-imperial-german-ironclad-1-96-scale-rcready","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":false,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/laksmj1enc1qw4da9jy206yrtsf3/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/00.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/laksmj1enc1qw4da9jy206yrtsf3/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/00.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/sms-sachsen-imperial-german-ironclad-1-96-scale-rcready","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":129,"name":".3mf","is_native":false},{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"hobby-diy","subcategorySlug":"robotics","categoryTitle":"Hobby \u0026 DIY","subcategoryTitle":"RC \u0026 Robotics","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/7041781/5abf2ffd23/sms-sachsen-imperial-german-ironclad-1-96-scale-rcready-3d-model-5abf2ffd23.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"6964018","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":6964018,"title":"USS Texas BB-35 Dreadnought Battleship 3D Print STL Model","price":29.95,"description":"USS Texas BB-35 Dreadnought Battleship 3D Print STL Model. She was the lead ship of the Dingyuan class, which included one other vessel, Zhenyuan, both of which were built in Germany in the early 1880s. Delivery of the two ironclads was delayed by the Sino-French War of 1884–1885. The ships were armed with a main battery of four 12 in (305 mm) guns in a pair of gun turrets, making them the most powerful warships in East Asian waters at the time.\n\nDingyuan served as the flagship of Admiral Ding Ruchang during her active career. In the 1880s and early 1890s, the Beiyang Fleet conducted a routine of training exercises and cruises abroad, with emphasis placed on visits to Japan to intimidate the country. The latter resulted in the Nagasaki Incident in 1886 and contributed to a rise in hostility between the two countries that culminated in the First Sino-Japanese War in 1894. She led the Chinese fleet during the Battle of the Yalu River on 17 September, where the Japanese Combined Fleet sank much of the Beiyang Fleet, though both Dingyuan and Zhenyuan survived despite numerous hits, thanks to their heavy armor. The survivors then retreated to Port Arthur for repairs, but after that city was threatened by the Japanese Army, fled to Weihaiwei.\n\nAs the Japanese continued to advance, they laid siege to Weihaiwei in late January 1895. On 5 February, a Japanese torpedo boat slipped into the port and hit Dingyuan with a torpedo, inflicting serious damage. The Chinese crew were forced to beach the vessel to avoid sinking, and for the next week, Dingyuan was used as a stationary artillery battery. Japanese ground forces seized the city's coastal fortifications on 9 February, allowing their artillery to shell the ships in the harbor, which prompted Ding to surrender. Dingyuan was scuttled in the harbor on 10 February. A full-scale replica of the ship was built in Weihai in 2003 as a museum ship and in 2019, the Chinese government announced that an underwater survey had located the original vessel's wreck.\n\n\nFollowing the direct intervention of the imperialist European powers in the mid-19th century, including the First and Second Opium Wars, where their superior steam-powered fleets overwhelmed the small Imperial Chinese Navy that still relied on traditional junks, the Chinese began a naval construction program in the 1880s to meet these threats more effectively. They enlisted British and German assistance, and two Dingyuan-class ironclads were ordered from Germany.\n\nDingyuan was 308 ft (94 m) long overall, with a beam of 59 ft (18 m) and a draft of 20 ft (6.1 m). She displaced 7,220 long tons (7,340 t) normally and up to 7,670 long tons (7,790 t) at full load. She was powered by a pair of compound steam engines that each drove a screw propeller. Steam was provided by eight coal-burning fire-tube boilers that were ducted into a pair of funnels amidships. She was capable of a top speed of 15.7 knots (29.1 km/h; 18.1 mph) from 7,500 indicated horsepower (5,600 kW). Her crew consisted of 350 officers and enlisted men.\n\nThe ship carried a main battery of four 12 in (305 mm) 20-caliber breech-loading guns in two twin-gun turrets that were placed en echelon forward. These were supported by a secondary battery of two 5.9 in (150 mm) guns in a pair of single turrets, one at the bow and the other at the stern. For defense against torpedo boats, she carried a pair of 47 mm (1.9 in) Hotchkiss revolver cannon and eight 37 mm (1.5 in) Maxim-Nordenfelt quick-firing guns in casemates. Dingyuan was also equipped with three 14 in (356 mm) or 15 in (381 mm) torpedo tubes.\n\nShe was protected by compound armor that was 14 in for the armor belt, which covered the central part of the ship were the ammunition magazines and propulsion machinery spaces were located. An armor deck that was 3 in (76 mm) thick provided horizontal protection. Her conning tower was covered with 8 in (203 mm) of armor plate on the sides. The barbettes for the gun turrets were 12–14 in thick. A strake of armor that was 8 in thick protected the casemate guns.\n\n\nDingyuan was ordered in 1880 and was laid down at the AG Vulcan shipyard in Stettin, Germany in March 1881; her name means \"eternal peace\" in Chinese. Work proceeded quickly and she was launched on 28 December 1881 to clear the slipway so work could begin on her sister ship Zhenyuan. Fitting-out work continued into May 1883, when the vessel was completed, but delivery was to be delayed until Zhenyuan was finished in April 1884. The start of the outbreak of the Sino-French War in August prevented both Dingyuan-class ships from being delivered until 1885, since Germany would not transfer the vessels to a country at war.[4]\n\nBoth vessels were manned by German crews, sailing on 3 July 1885 under the German flag in company with the also German-built protected cruiser Jiyuan. The three ships arrived in Tianjin in November, where they were transferred to Chinese control. Li Hongzhang, the Viceroy of Zhili and director of China's naval construction program, inspected the vessels following their arrival. The two ironclads were then commissioned into the Beiyang Fleet, which was based in Port Arthur.[5] The ships steamed south to Shanghai for the winter of 1885–1886.[6]\n\n","imageAlt":"2 in 1 Printable RC Ironclad Dingyuan and Gunboat Tiong 1","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/printable-rc-ironclad-dingyuan-and-gunboat-tiong-sing","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":true,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/exEoJV5W12cNu1nxnPhm9mUs/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/dyr.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/exEoJV5W12cNu1nxnPhm9mUs/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/dyr.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/printable-rc-ironclad-dingyuan-and-gunboat-tiong-sing","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false},{"id":12,"name":".obj","is_native":false},{"id":129,"name":".3mf","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"miniatures","subcategorySlug":"vehicles","categoryTitle":"Miniatures","subcategoryTitle":"Cars \u0026 Vehicles","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/3229945/2cec2ceb2e/2-in-1-printable-rc-ironclad-dingyuan-and-gunboat-tiong-sing-3d-model-2cec2ceb2e.webp","saleOffDiscount":30,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":true}},{"id":"1893143","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":1893143,"title":"Brazilian Ironclad Silvado","price":6.0,"description":"* The package contains 3D files for model printing - Brazilian Ironclad Silvado. \nNOTE: Stylized model for easy printing.\n\n* The template contains the following file formats for printing: .blend, .3ds, .dae, .fbx, .stl, .obj, and .ply.\n\n* The Model is scaled according to the metric system.\n\n* The size of the model is 167mm (16,7cm) x 38mm (3.8cm) x 34mm (3.4cm). Was named to honor Admiral Tamandaré. The Tamandaré was designed to meet the need of the Brazilian Navy for a small, simple, shallow-draft armored ship capable of withstanding heavy fire. She was one of three armored gunboats, together with Barroso and Rio de Janeiro, built to the same general plan, although each ship varied significantly in size and armament. The ship is best characterized as a central battery. For sea passages the ship's freeboard could be increased to 1.7 meters (5 ft 7 in) by use of removable bulwarks 1.1 meters (3 ft 7 in) high. On riverine operations, the bulwarks, and the ship's masts, were usually removed.\n\nBuilt to participate in the Paraguayan War 1864 - 1870 (War of the Triple Alliance). She bombarded the Paraguayan fortifications blocking access up the Paraná and Paraguay Rivers as well as bombarding Paraguayan positions in support of the Brazilian Army. The ship participated in the Passage of Humaitá in February 1868 and was badly damaged. After Tamandaré was repaired she provided fire support for the army for the rest of the war, aside from bombarding Paraguyan capital of Asunción once. The ship was assigned to the Mato Grosso Flotilla after the war. Tamandaré was decommissioned in 1879 and scrapped afterwards.\n\nDISPLACEMENT: 754 metric tons (742 long tons) (normal) - LENGTH: 51.36 m (168 ft 6 in) - BEAM: 9.19 m (30 ft 2 in) - DRAFT: 2.44 m (8.0 ft) (mean).\n\nInstalled: POWER: 273 ihp (204 kW) ** PROPULSION: 1 shaft, 1 steam engine, 2 boilers ** SAIL PLAN: Schooner-rigged ** SPEED: 8 knots (15 km/h; 9.2 mph).\n.\nCOMPLEMENT:\t120 officers and men.\n\nARMAMENT: 1 × rifled 70-pounder Whitworth gun * 3 × smoothbore 68-pounder guns * 2 × smootbore 12-pounder gun.\n\nARMOR: Belt: 51–102 mm (2.0–4.0 in) ** CASEMATE: 102 mm (4.0 in) ** DECK: 12.7 mm (0.50 in).\n\nIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII\n\n- **This model is dedicated to 3D printing.**\n\n_Hope you like! The ship was built at the Laird \u0026 Brothers shipyard in Birkenhead, England, and was launched at sea in 1866. The Lima Barros was the first and only ship to be named, a tribute to Francisco José de Lima Barros, who was killed on board of the Corvette Jequitinhonha, in the Naval Battle of Riachuelo, on June 11, 1865.\n\nHe was sent to the front still in 1866 participating in the battles of Curupaiti and later Humaitá. At dawn on March 2, 1868, Cabral and Lima Barros were approached in the vicinity of Humaitá by 24 enemy canoes disguised as camalotes with about 300 men on board. The canoes came sailing together in a pair of twos with 20 rods of separation from each other, so that they would be tied to the side of the ships by the same current. The surprise allowed the attackers to seize the deck of the Lima Barros and Cabral ships, whose crew locked themselves in the towers, but soon the Brazil and Herval corvettes intervened, strafing the occupied decks. Alagoas participated in the Passagem de Humait in February 1868 and provided fire support for the army for the rest of the war. The ship was assigned to the Upper Uruguay (Portuguese: Alto Uruguai) Flotilla after the war. Alagoas was transferred to Rio de Janeiro in the 1890s and participated in the Fleet Revolt of 189394. The ship wasscrapped in 1900.\n\nAlagoas was placed in the Navy Arsenal of the Court, in Rio de Janeiro on 8 December 1866, during the Paraguayan War, which saw Argentina and Brazil allied against Paraguay. She was launched on 29 October 1867 and completed in November 1867. She arrived on the Paran River in January 1868, although her passage further north was barred by the Paraguayan fortifications at Humait. On 19 February 1868, six Brazilian ironclads, including Alagoas, steamed past Humait at night. Alagoas and her two sister ships,Rio Grande and Par were lashed to the larger ironclads in case any engines were disabled by the Paraguayan guns.Barroso led with Rio Grande, followed by Bahia with Alagoas and Tamandar with Par. The cable tying Alagoas to Bahia was severed by Paraguayan shells and the monitor drifted down below the guns. The commander of the Alagoas was ordered not to attempt to pass the guns during daylight, but disregarded this order and successfully rendezvoused with the rest of the squadron upstream of the fortifications. Both Alagoas, which had taken an estimated 200 hits, and Par had to be beached after passing the fortress to prevent them from sinking. Alagoas was under repair at So Jos do Cerrito until mid-March. Accompanied by Tamandar, Alagoas bombarded and destroyed the Paraguayan artillery battery at Timb, upstream of Humanit, on 23 March. The monitor bombarded artillery positions defending theTebicuary Riverin July and again in August. On 15 October she bombarded Angostura Fort, south of Asuncin, in company with Brasil, Silvado, Par and her sisterCear.\n\n\n* Specifications:\n\nType: Ironclad turret ship\n\nDisplacement: 500 metric tons (490 long tons)\n\nLength: 37 m (121 ft 5 in)\nBeam: 8.54 m (28 ft 0 in)\nDraft: 1.511.54 m (5.05.1 ft) (mean)\n\nInstalled power:\n180 ihp (130 kWatts)\n\nPropulsion: \n2 shafts, 2 steam engines, 2 boilers\nSpeed: 8 knots (15 km/h; 9.2 mph)\n\nCrew: 8 officers and 35 men\n\nArmament: \n1 70-pounder Whitworth gun\n\nArmor: \nBelt: 51102 mm (2.04.0 in)\nGun turret: 76152 mm (3.06.0 in)\nDeck: 12.7 mm (0.50 in)\n\n.................................................................................\n\n**- This model is dedicated to 3D printing.**\n\n...................................................................................\n\nHope you like! One of the most curious features of this ship was that its hull was reconverted with a \"shell style\", in addition, its deck was in a very low place to be an easy target for rival ships.\n\nIt was placed in the official service in September 1861, the month in which CSS Manassas was taken by the Confederation Navy and officially bought by the Confederate Government in December 1861.\n\nOn October 12, 1861, CSS Manassas made his first attack on the unionists. He attacked the unionist force that exercised the Naval blockade on the Mississippi River. The large steam boat known as USS Richmond was rammed and seriously damaged, but did not sink.
