Description

Veera Lakshmi is one of the several forms Goddess Lakshmi assumed when she manifested on Earth. This Avatar of the Goddess is said to be the epitome of bravery, strength and valor. She is also known as Dhairya Lakshmi, or one who provides courage to face challenges and overcome difficulties, both material and spiritual. Unique traits of Veera Lakshmi Veera Lakshmi is depicted with eight arms, dressed in red clothing and draped in gold ornaments and flowers. She is seated on a lotus and wields several weapons in her hands like a disc, bow, arrow and a trident or sword. She also holds a conch and several palm leaf scriptures. Two hands are portrayed in the Abhaya Mudra and Varadh Mudra posture which dispels fear, while signifying safety, reassurance and generosity. Her charming and peaceful countenance evokes a feeling of love and compassion, which instills fortitude and determination in the hearts of her devotees.

Mythology of Veera Lakshmi In days of yore, there lived a king named Bhoja Rajan, who ruled the land without any opposition. Everyone was healthy and happy, with calm and peace prevailing everywhere. The king was an ardent devotee of Goddess Lakshmi and his prayers ensured she never left his kingdom. The Goddess appeared to him in a dream and told him that seven of her eight incarnations would have to leave his kingdom and he could choose any one which he needed the most. After due deliberation, the king arrived at a conclusion and decided that he wanted Goddess Dhairya Lakshmi to stay on in his kingdom. Thus, the king had made the wise choice of retaining strength and valor which is considered vital to govern people.

She is also easily pleased by those chanting the Dhairya Lakshmi Stotra and grants them their wishes.
